Are Sainsbury’s off their trolley?

Sainsbury’s has changed their parking to a maximum of 2 hours (24 hours a day).  Historically, car parking has been free in the outside car park since the Norwood Heights development – which began with a Safeway supermarket in the trading area, now occupied by Sainsbury’s . In 2014 a maximum three hour parking restriction was introduced in the indoor and outdoor car park.

An online survey was undertaken over a one month period.  There were 376 replies.  Overall 87% did non agree with car parking being reduced to a maximum of 2 hours.

The summary survey report is here: Crystal Palace District Town Centre Parking Survey Report. The Appendix containing all comments covers 32 pages.

Upper Norwood Sainsbury’s are reviewing the findings with a meeting being arranged to discuss with their regional manager.  More news to follow soon.  One of the other issues raised were with the lifts, and Sainsbury’s have escalated these concerns. Issues with the poor road surface to Barnardo’s and Sainsburys on Coxwell Road have been flagged for priority repair to the land owner.
